Vacationing in Europe
You must be familiar with all the countries in Europe. There are 48 nations in this continent and to mention the places for the best spots for winter vacations in all these countries will be a bit of a problem. So what I have done is, I have mentioned the top 10 places to visit in Europe during the winters. I am sure you will love these destinations and enjoy your stay there. So, here are some vacation spots that you can visit.
Skiing at The Matterhorn in Switzerland
The first name that comes into my mind is that of the snow-covered Alps in Switzerland. Whether you want to enjoy a nice ski vacation, climb the mountains, go trekking, or just sit back and enjoy the scenic beauty of this beautiful country, this is the place for you. No matter how many times you visit this country, you can never get tired of it.
Colosseum Christmas in Rome
Do you love the museums, the old historic monuments, the historical theaters, or just like enjoying yourself in some of the cultural events around Christmas? If this is so, then Rome, the capital of Italy, is the place for you. Visit Rome, take a trip to the Vatican, walk down the ancient Roman forum just like Julius Caesar did, or make a wish at the Trevis Fountain. And a small tip for the girls: besides these museums and monuments, you will also find the Italian boys really cute!
Scenic Sognefjord in Norway
Be it skiing, cruising, climbing, ice fishing, or just relaxing at the beach, it’s all there in Norway. Try out those things which you had never tried at home, hitch a ride on a sledge pulled by dogs, ride on a reindeer, or go and watch the Northern lights. You can also visit the Vigeland Park in Oslo, or maybe the Akershus Castle, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Do not forget to visit Sognefjord and enjoy the best of what Norway has got to offer to its visitors.
Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Athens
One can never leave out Athens while talking about the vacation spots in Europe. If you are a person who simply loves to learn more about the ancient Greek mythology, a visit to this more than 3,000 year old city is a must. An amazing and ancient city in Greece, the number of places you can visit here will take you a lifetime. The Tower of the Winds, the Arch of Hadrian, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Odeon of Herodes, and its huge number of islands are just some of the many places that you can visit for a warm winter vacation.
Tyn Church in Prague
The Old Town Square, the Tyn Church, the Prague Castle, the cobblestone pathways, the streets lines with the old castles, the breathtaking forests … all this covered in a thick blanket of white snow is sure to take you back to the times of the Grimm brothers. If you are in two minds as to which place to visit this winter, then your problem is solved, as Prague is the place for you.
Eiffel Tower in Winter
For all those couples who are looking for a romantic getaway this winter, a visit to the romantic city of Paris in France is a must. Visit all those places that Dan Brown has mentioned in his book Da Vinci Code, visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Opera Garnier, and of course, one can never leave out the Eiffel Tower. Fall in love all over again in this romantic city. It is also one of the best shopping destinations in the world, so do not forget to carry enough money.
Tarifa Beach in Spain
If it’s a warm winter vacation that you are looking for, then how about spending your time on the Tarifa Beach in Spain? This is the place where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Surfing, windsurfing, watching the dolphins, or just lazing around, you can do all these here on this beach. Enjoy the beauty of the white sand and the blue sea on one of the best beaches in Europe.
Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster
Will you believe it if I told you that the first thing that came into my mind while writing about London was 221B Baker Street? If you are a Holmes fan (doesn’t matter even if you are not one, as everyone knows this place), then this is the place that you must visit first when you travel to London. The capital of England, this city is the best place for a vacation. The list of places you can see is endless; the Buckingham Palace (who knows, probably you can catch a glimpse of Prince William), the Westminster Abbey, Madam Tussauds (pose with the wax models of some of your favorite celebrities), the Big Ben, and of course, the Camden Market for all those who are shopaholics.
Rialto Bridge in Venice
If someone asks me about the places that I would like to visit again before I die, then Venice would top the list. Visiting the Dodge’s Palace, the Basilica di San Marco, which is one of the most beautiful building in the world and also an important church, cruising down the Grand Canal, or walking down the Rialto Bridge are some of the things you can do if you visit Venice.
Chamonix Mont blanc in France
Looking for some places where you can ski and snowboard to your heart’s content? Then, Chamonix is the place where you and your family should be this winter. Located in the eastern part of France, this place gives you a chance to explore the Alps, as well as the Mont Blanc ride on the tramway in Aiguille de Midi, ski in Vallee Blanche, or just enjoy a glass of delicious wine.
Now that you have the list of places you can travel to in Europe, have you decided where you will be heading to this winter? Just make sure that you make all the preparations beforehand and that you carry enough money with you. Bon Voyage!
